Join the GEPL community for a volunteer shift at the Northern Illinois Food Bank as part of our summer reading program, Read to Feed. Last year the NIFB distributed 40 million pounds of food and served 61,000 individuals every week through its network of hundreds of food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, youth activity centers and other food assistance sites. Volunteers will do a variety of projects, including sorting, evaluating, cleaning and packaging donated food prior to distribution to its network partners, including the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry.
Volunteers can sign up by contacting the adult reference desk at (630) 790-6630 or firstname.lastname@example.org no later than July 7. Volunteers 8 years of age and older can participate but must be accompanied by an adult.
